We live in Lanzarote and we went to Las Palmas for cataract surgery for my husband on both eyes as the waiting list at the General Hospital is over 18 months. From the initial appointment to post surgery everyone was extremely informative and kind. My husband particularly wants to thank Josefina Renones, his surgeon, for her professionalism and her dedication to Doctor/Paciente relationships. Two days after the surgery my vision is much brighter and clearer than it has been for a long time. Raymond Cooper
Personally, we need to thank the Vithas clinic from the bottom of our hearts for their professionalism, attention and kindness. I've read some of the reviews here and wanted to share our experience. My mother is 89 and underwent simple cataract surgery at the general hospital on our island. The surgeon failed to perform the operation correctly and my mother was left virtually blind in one eye. How did the surgeon respond? "Well, She's got the other one, I don't know what your problem is". We honestly did not know what to do. Thankfully Vithas was recommended and we flew to Las Palmas for a consultation with Dr. Reyes. The clinic was busy and that reassured us. Yes, taking a ticket was not something we expected but it works. Your personal number directs you to wherever you need to be throughout your visit. A simple and effective system. Everyone we encountered was professional and friendly. We felt reassured. By the time we left, Dr Reyes left us with the hope that a solution could be found and we booked surgery for a few days later. I don't understand why patients who fly from other islands complain about a waiting time when they have booked flights to return home. The clinic is busy and obviously gives each patient the time they deserve. An overrun is inevitable. Your eyes are so vitally important, why would you rush your appointment? Even for our initial consultation we booked a night at a hotel before so we could arrive on time for 10:00. Our flight home was reserved for the evening just in case, and also so that we didn't stress. Binter and CanaryFly offer flexible tickets, and we simply changed to an earlier or later flight as needed ... No problem. Today marks 7 days since surgery and we are returning for a follow up consultation this morning. Mums vision is returning slowly, but surely. Dr Reyes gave us honest opinions and advice, explaining everything thoroughly. I particularly appreciated that mum was treated with the utmost kindness and respect by everyone. No false promises, no "miracle cures", just good advice and a realistic timeline for her sight to return. In 7 days she has gone from a total blind fog, to seeing movement, to seeing colours, to recognising shapes, to identifying family members. Yesterday she could distinguish individual features. As yet, we do not know the exact degree to which her sight will return. However, the Vithas Clinic performed what we consider a miracle. Remember, the state hospital said they may remove the eye. We cannot thank the Vithas Clinic enough. A special mention must be made to Rita in Attention Paciente. Who guided us through every part of the process with a kindness and care that deserves our sincerest thanks. The communication even after we left continued to be excellent. We never felt alone or deserted. We also never felt that Money was more important than the need of the individual. The other point I do want to mention was the process of blood tests, cardiograms and anaesthesia. When we were told what was needed on a Friday afternoon in preparation for the Monday. I was overwhelmed. Following Rita's instructions everything was completed swiftly and without problem. I'd also like to assure anyone reading this that all the points we needed to visit are in the same road. Everywhere was walkable. In total, the preliminary eye tests, consultation with Dr Reyes, meeting with atencion Paciente, blood tests and cardiograms, took four hours. Please, if you use this clinic, you are in good and capable hands. Take the time to make your visits stress free. If you wait longer, it's probably because the previous patient is recieving the best attention they can get. That should reassure you that you will too. I'm not an associate or affiliate of the clinic, just a very appreciative patient who went through hell prior to meeting the team. I invite anyone reading this to feel free to message me if you doubt my review.
Best team, Doctors and clerks... Very happy after surgery. We highly recommend Vithas Eurocanarias.
It is fortunate to have such a high-level team of professionals who also do everything possible to make the patient feel well cared for. I have had eye surgery and the treatment has been extraordinary. I am very grateful.
