Biography
Dr Andreas Mavrides is a consultant Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Fertility specialist. He graduated from Guy’s and St Thomas’ School of Medicine, London, and subsequently completed the Certificate of Specialist Training under the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in the UK.
During this time, he attended and was awarded a distinction in a Master of Medical Sciences (MSc) in Assisted Reproduction Technologies from Nottingham University. He then continued his training in the fields of subfertility and assisted reproduction techniques at the Sheffield Fertility Centre. This was followed by further specialisation at the Reproductive Unit of Hammersmith Hospital in London, where he worked as a Lecturer and Research Fellow and gained considerable experience by working alongside some of the leaders in the field of reproductive medicine and surgery.
Working as a Specialist Registrar at the London Deanery, enabled him to acquire considerable experience in all aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology and, more specifically, endoscopic surgery for fertility and other gynaecological indications. He is an advanced laparoscopic surgeon, specialised in using keyhole surgery techniques.
He is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and has worked as a Senior Registrar at St George’s hospital in London – one of the busiest hospitals in the UK with approximately 6,000 deliveries a year, and one of the UK’s leading centres for gynaecological oncology where complex gynaecological surgery is performed.
Since 2006 he has been working in Cyprus in the private sector, and as the founder of ISIS Clinic, the largest fertility and maternity unit in the country, leading a team of 55 people, performing more than 800 fertility treatments and 500 deliveries a year.
Dr Mavrides is a member of the British Fertility Society (BFS) and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Endocrinology (ESHRE), and a board member of the Cyprus Association of Assisted Reproduction (EAAK).
